RM Rail, a leading freight rolling stock manufacturer in Russia, has hosted at its sites a field meeting of Quality Committee chaired by Valentin Gapanovich, President of  Association of Railway Equipment Manufacturers.

The meeting of the Quality Committee was dedicated to the use of digital technologies in railway engineering production, the development of Voluntary Certification System providing an independent assessment of railway products usability, and the performance of the sites’ quality management systems in compliance with requirements of the industry standard and Quality Management System.

The meeting considered the practical experience of the “Electronic Inspector” automated system use by RM Rail enterprises, which were among the first to join the project for its implementation. The electronic system for manufactured products accounting monitors the uniqueness of assigned product numbers thereby preventing duplication of units released to the infrastructure, eliminating doubts about the legitimacy of parts, clearing the manufacturer of reputational risks.

The attendees were also made aware of RM Rail experience in developing and launching a new line of freight cars on the market.

Maksim Tevs, RM Rail General Director:

- RM Rail was one of the first to embark on the development of digital technologies, which offer a wide range of opportunities and development paths. Since 2020, the Company has been implementing the Electronic Inspector project. The electronic system replaced primary paper documents, increased the efficiency and availability of product data. The system ensured monitoring the parts’ traceability at any stage of components and railcars life cycle. Ultimately, this will ensure effective protection of products from counterfeiting and the safety of freight transportation.

The event was attended by representatives of industry associations, the Federal Agency for Railway Transport, the Government of the Republic of Mordovia, Russian Railways, executives of leading freight rolling stock operators and car building plants.
