RM Rail has concluded a new contract for supply of rail cars to Cuba
RM Rail has concluded a new contract for supply of rolling stock to the Republic of Cuba. The contract continues cooperation started by the company in 2016.
RM Rail will produce 225 rail cars, including 50 sugar hoppers, 70 60-ft container flat cars and 105 box cars for Cuba. Delivery time is the third quarter of 2017.
The models are developed by RM Rail Engineering designers and adapted to the narrow 1435 track gauge. The rail cars are equipped with American style Janney coupler. Corrosion-resistant steel sheathing and specialized paint coatings protect the railway vehicles from exposure to tropical climate.
The rail cars will be manufactured by RM Rail Ruzchimmash plant, as it was last year. Finished products will be delivered using proven intermodal transport scheme: first by rail, then by sea. Final assembly of the rail cars will be completed by RM Rail specialists in the port of Havana.
Just to remind: 363 rolling stock units produced by RM Rail were supplied to their Cuba partners in 2016.
Andrei Vodopianov, RM Rail Deputy General Director:
- Continued cooperation is the best proof that the work started last year was evaluated as efficient by both parties. Special thanks to our partners - Russian Export-Import Bank, Export Insurance Agency of Russia (EXIAR) and MODUL for their support and assistance in the implementation of export contracts. We plan to further expand the volume of export supplies, including those to Cuba, to seek new promising areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
