VKM-Steel LLC (Saransk, Republic of Mordovia) is the largest Russian foundry complex, which specializes in the production of small, medium and, since 2013, large castings.
Large car castings are made on a state-of-the-art VDK-10 line using vacuum-film molding technology. Russian Railways and the Federal Agency for Railway Transport experts confirm the high quality of railway castings and, in particular, the reliable design of the solebar, the key component of a railcar bogie. Axle boxes are provided with a reinforced box-shaped section of the pedestal jaw opening. Owing to design solutions used, they have higher fatigue safety factor.
