VR Training Simulator Project at Ruzkhimmash Comes Second in Federal Competition

The enterprise won the second prize in the "Digital Innovations in the Enterprise" nomination at the "Best Mentoring Practices 2024" competition
The Ruzkhimmash plant, a key asset of RM Rail, ranked second in the "Digital Innovations at the Enterprise" nomination at the All-Russian "Best Mentoring Practices 2024" competition for the project in implementing VR simulators in employee training. The ceremony took place today in Moscow, with Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Murat Kerefov presenting the award.
The competition for best mentoring practices is being conducted as part of the national "Labor Productivity" project. Leading employers from 71 Russian regions participated in the event, with 90 making it to the finals and 15 ultimately being chosen as winners by the expert panel.

Ruzkhimmash entered a project proposal to incorporate VR training simulators into their specialist training program for key railcar manufacturing roles, including electric welders, painters, metal assembly technicians, and flaw detection specialists. This allows to effectively address multiple business challenges at once: increasing the attractiveness of working professions for young people; reducing the training period for new employees; honing the technology (VR-trainer does not allow you to move to the next stage without perfect performance of the previous one); as well as saving materials.

In 2023, the project won the regional stage in the Republic of Mordovia, which allowed it to reach the finals and become one of the winners of the federal competition.

Valery Larin, Managing Director of JSC Ruzkhimmash,
"VR simulators for training painters appeared at our enterprise in 2017; we became the pioneers among industrial enterprises of the country. We collaborated with Skolkovo experts to develop the software for these systems. We've come a long way since those early days, growing both our professional scope and the amount of equipment. VR simulators have become an essential component of both onboarding new employees and upskilling current staff. Ruzkhimmash's experience is in demand among colleagues in the industry, and we are regularly approached for training by representatives of Russian enterprises. We intend to continue to build on this by utilizing the best practices to improve staff proficiency.
