VKM-Stal Wins "100 Best Goods of Russia-2024"
The connecting beam 1271.07.00.001 for two-section rail cars with semi-rigid coupling has received the "Quality Leader" award.
VKM-Stal LLC, a metallurgical asset of RM Rail, has won the All-Russian "100 Best Goods of Russia" competition, with its innovative connecting beam 1271.07.00.001, for two-section rail cars with semi-rigid coupling, receiving the main "Quality Leader" award.
The winners of the all-Russian quality competition were honored today at an awards ceremony in Moscow during the Boytsov Academy of Quality Problems conference, with Academy President Grigory Yelkin presenting the awards. Denis Kaut, Quality Director, represented VKM-Stal at the event.
The connecting beam 1271.07.00.001 played a crucial role in developing the eight-axle "Nakhodka" tank rail car for petroleum product transportation, which was unveiled this spring. The Federal Freight Company commissioned the project. The new model aims to boost the carrying capacity of constrained sections of Russian railways, particularly in the Eastern operating domain, while maximizing freight volumes using existing infrastructure. The new model's key advantage is its enhanced load capacity of 150 tons, allowing it to transport up to 14% more light and dark petroleum products than current models when operating within a 988-meter conventional train formation.
The innovative technical solution of the eight-axle railcar "RM Rail" is based on the connecting beam developed and manufactured by the company's specialists in a short period of time. Its uniqueness comes from combining simplicity with exceptional reliability in its design—a foundation that could serve as the basis for developing an entire series of articulated railcars.
Denis Kaut, Quality Director of VKM-Stal LLC,
"Our team put in tremendous effort to launch the connecting beam into production and verify its compliance. We take great pride in receiving such high recognition from the experts of the '100 Best Goods of Russia' competition," he emphasized.
