RM Rail and Gazpromtrans signed a Cooperation Agreement
The parties agreed to cooperate in the development of rolling stock for transportation of lump and granulated sulfur
On November 1, within the framework of the 12th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, Gazpromtrans and Trading House RM Rail (part of RM Rail, Russia's leading manufacturer of freight rolling stock) signed a Cooperation Agreement.
The document was signed by Maksim Mironenko, CEO of Gazpromtrans LLC, and Aleksandr Kulikov, CEO of Trading House RM Rail LLC.
The agreement provides for the cooperation between the parties in the development of advanced freight rolling stock for transportation of lump and granulated sulfur using modern design solutions and materials.
RM Rail undertakes to design and manufacture a specialized wagon, taking into account the characteristics of the cargo, the customer's requirements for special conditions of its transportation, and the infrastructure features in the loading and unloading areas. Sulfur is a chemically aggressive medium and is capable of chemical reaction with the material of the wagon body during the transportation, however the RM Rail offers using alternative materials to ensure both the safety of the cargo and maximum corrosion protection of the rolling stock during the operation.
Aleksandr Kulikov, CEO of Trading House RM Rail LLC:
"Our Company traditionally pays special attention to the development of the rolling stock model range in cooperation with our strategic partners. The development and manufacture of specialized freight wagons according to the customer's individual requirements is our strength. We have done a lot of work on using alternative materials in production, in particular aluminum alloys, which make it possible to create reliable and efficient wagons. The available developed solutions will be applied to the order of Gazpromtrans. I am sure that the new wagon for sulfur transportation is able not only to meet the expectations of our partner, but also to exceed them."
Maksim Mironenko, CEO of Gazpromtrans LLC:
"Gazpromtrans works systematically to replace wagons discarded due to their service life. Today's event is a significant step in that field. The cooperation with RM Rail is also aimed at ensuring readiness for the uninterrupted transportation of products from the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant."
