RM Rail has certified an innovative gondola
The model 12–3201 has become the best in the universal hatch gondola segment due to a combination of key technical and operational parameters
RM Rail, a leading Russian manufacturer of freight rolling stock, has received a certificate of conformity from the Federal Railway Transport Agency for the 12–3201 gondola rail car on a bogie with a 25 tf axle load.
The gondola car is designed for transporting a wide range of cargoes that does not require protection from atmospheric precipitation: bulk, loose, stacked and packaged. The model’s load capacity is 75.5 tons, which is 0.5 tons more than similar models. The body capacity is 95 m³, which is 1 m³ more than similar models. The tare weight has been reduced to 24.5 tons, which is 0.5 tons less than similar models. The undercarriage features an innovative 25 tf bogie developed in-house, model 18–9891. The rail car’s service life is 32 years.

The increased load capacity provides an advantage when transporting heavy loads, such as coal, while the increased body capacity allows for efficient transportation of lighter loads, like coke.
The model 12–3201 will be presented to the general public at the International Railroad Salon 1520 PRO//MOTION EXPO in St. Petersburg. Serial production of the new model will begin in the second half of this year.
