RM Rail and ASORPS Hold Session over Isothermal Rolling Stock Development
The volume of rail transportation requiring temperature control is steadily growing
Current issues and prospects for operation and construction of isothermal (in particular, refrigerated) rolling stock and containers were discussed during the business meeting between RM Rail and Association of Organizations in the Product Sector (ASORPS). The event was organized by RM Rail, with participation from top executives of Dalreftrans, REFAGROTRANS, RUSREF, DelTransLogistic, and others.
ASORPS President Mikhail Sinev traced operating isothermal rolling stock and container on 1520 gauge railways back from Soviet times. In recent years, the volume of rail transportation requiring temperature control is steadily growing. The most important types of isothermal rolling stock and containers were not previously mass-produced by domestic manufacturers—most domestic demand for these rail cars and containers was met through imports. He presented his vision for the required fleet of isothermal rail cars and containers.
Isothermal rolling stock is one of the promising areas of RM Rail's development strategy. The company is dynamically increasing its presence in this segment by introducing innovative technologies to improve cargo transportation. In response to market demand, the company quickly developed and manufactured a "thermos" rail car, an autonomous refrigerated rail car, and a refrigerated container with superior technical and operational characteristics.
"We see strong market interest and the importance of this product line for the country's economy," emphasized Sergei Drobzhev, First Deputy General Director of RM Rail. "That's why the company has actively engaged in this work." We are in continuous interaction with shippers, cargo companies, and owners of freight rail cars and containers to create products that meet all customer expectations. And we are ready to present our developments to potential customers—on October 31, the isothermal rail car line will be showcased at the Ruzkhimmash plant. I am sure our partners will fully appreciate the new models.
