The company is the only serial producer of cargo containers in the country; its annual capacity is up to 10,000 TEUs per year, which can fully satisfy the annual demand of the Russian market for specialized and universal 20-foot containers, which are used almost only on the Russian market.

In 2021, the company's development strategy was based on the production of exclusive, customized containers, taking into account the specifics of transported cargo and the customer's individual needs The presence of the company's own engineering center enables development and production of new models with high quality and in a short time. At the same time, the design of domestic containers is more reliable and the quality is higher, which is confirmed by the results of actual operation.

A tank container for the transportation of liquefied natural gas has been developed and is ready for serial production; there is a reserve for production of promising tank containers for transportation of cryogenic products, including hydrogen. With the support of the Russian Ministry its isothermal containers for transportation of chilled and frozen products.

Taking into account the dynamic growth of the container transportation market, RM Rail carries out systematic work to strengthen the positions of domestic container manufacturers. In particular, the consideration of the program of division of commodity item 8609 00 into separate codes for universal and specialized containers (tank containers for the transportation of liquids and gases, refrigerated containers, containers for the transportation of coiled steel, etc.) has been initiated. This will minimize the negative impact of a single customs duty on all containers at the same time, when the deficit of one type of containers, the production of which is unprofitable compared to Chinese manufacturers (forty-foot containers), leads to a decrease in competitiveness of the entire nomenclature at once.

During his visit to RM Rail Abakanvagonmash, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov toured the production sites and discussed with the management of RM Rail the current situation in the industry and measures to support and develop Russian freight container manufacturers.
