Batyr Emeyev, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia, visits RM Rail enterprises
Batyr Emeyev, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia, paid a working visit to RM Rail enterprises on October 14. Accompanied by RM Rail CEO Maksim Tevs, Mr. Emeyev toured the production sites to assess progress on the implementation of certain key projects.
The manufacture of a unique product - thermos rail cars for perishable goods, model 16–1239 - was launched at Ruzkhimmash Site 1A in Saransk this past August. RM Rail rolled out its new isothermal rolling stock family exactly one year ago. Now its serial manufacture is in full swing.
A 43.5 m³ LNG tank container prototype is manufactured in the adjacent bay. A one-of-a-kind piece of equipment, this tank is a key component of the mobile gas transportation system supplying heat and power generation in hard-to-reach parts of Russia.
The Precision Casting Shop: without exaggeration, all eyes are now on this innovative project by VKM Steel. The precision casting shop has been set up as part of the region's and Russian ferrous metal industry's first-ever SPIC 1.0 project. Foundry Shop No. 1 has seen an equipment upgrade, and advanced technology is now in place to produce medium and small castings on an automatic flask-free line. The new products went into serial production here in August. “Now, thanks to this project, not only is VKM Steel all set to produce in-demand cast
ing products with high-tech equipment, it also stands to significantly improve efficiency and diversify its output to the maximum”, RM Rail CEO Maksim Tevs said.
But the new precision casting shop is not the only place where big changes are underway. All key production processes are being modernized. Batyr Emeyev toured Shop No. 1, the 2nd casting line, the casting process site for innovative rail cars, and the melting section of Shop No. 3, where the VDK-10 line upgrade is nearing completion. Now that the second casting line is in place, VKM Steel is set to increase output and expand its product range.
A special point of pride for the company is its new, state-of-the-art gas cleaning system, which will provide a much improved gas filtration action on gasses emitted by three melting furnaces and a healthier work environment at the production site. The equipment is currently being installed.
At Ruzkhimmash, Batyr Emeyev toured the site where assemblies are manufactured for thermos rail cars, and the robotic heel cap manufacturing site. The output of parts has increased substantially since the new high tech machining centers and robotic manipulator were added.
This site is regularly entrusted with strategic jobs for the nuclear power industry. With its long-time expertise in nonstandard production, the site is equipped to offer custom solutions for many different industries.
At the core site, Batyr Emeyev familiarized himself with the key modernization projects currently underway, including the updated hydraulic test bench, which has reduced testing time by half, and the robotic welding area for gondola end walls, where equipment debugging is in progress. Productivity will be way up once these projects have been completed.
Preparations are ongoing for a new blank assembly welding plant at the tank car head forming section. This is one of the biggest retooling projects now in the works at the enterprise. The work began in July, the equipment is due to arrive in November, and the launch is scheduled for December.
“RM Rail has made quite a leap in recent years”, summarized Batyr Emeyev. “They don’t just update equipment here, they think, create, and advance the industry in novel ways. When you see how ideas become great results, with people creating technologies that make Mordovia proud, you realize we are on the right track”.
