Artyom Zdunov, Head of the Republic of Mordovia, and RM Rail CEO Maxim Tevs Meet to Review Key Areas of the Company’s Work
RM Rail CEO Maxim Tevs met with Artyom Zdunov, Head of the Republic of Mordovia, to present the company’s development priorities and preliminary results for the current year. The discussion focused in particular on RM Rail’s contribution to the socio-economic development of the region and the company’s employee support measures.
RM Rail continues to expand its product line with rolling stock designed for maximum rail transport efficiency, tailored to the specific requirements of each cargo type. The company is actively converting its most promising railcars to innovative running gear with a 25-tf axle load. In April this year, certification was obtained for two new models: the 12-3201 gondola car—unique in the segment of universal hatch gondolas—and the 16-6799 isothermal thermos car. The 15-3209 tank car for petroleum products, considered the best in the 4-axle tank car segment, is currently being prepared for certification. The company responds flexibly to economic demands, promptly bringing relevant models to market. Having its own engineering center—RM Rail Engineering—allows the company to quickly develop and put into production knowledge-intensive, technically complex models with superior characteristics. This applies not only to rail cars, but also to petrochemical equipment. The company is actively developing the vertical steel tanks segment. RM Rail RVS products are used by leading Russian oil and gas companies in large-scale infrastructure projects.
RM Rail employs more than 8,400 people, with over 7,000 based in Mordovia. Wages are regularly indexed: as of February 1, 2025, salaries were increased by 5%, bringing the average monthly wage to around 100,000 rubles. Over the course of 2024, the average salary grew by 20%. The company has also indexed its hot meal subsidy, which now amounts to 250 rubles per day.
RM Rail’s corporate housing program, launched in 2024, has been expanded. Initially available only to employees of Ruzkhimmash and VKM Steel, the program now includes RM Rail Engineering. In 2025 alone, 32 applications have already been submitted.
Another new initiative in 2025—highly appreciated by employees—is full reimbursement of kindergarten fees for employees with preschool-age children, provided upon submission of payment receipts.
The company continues to invest in education and development. It has joined the Metallurg educational cluster and established a Corporate University under its management company. The aim is to build a continuous learning ecosystem that fosters skills development, promotes company values, and strengthens corporate culture. In 2024, the company held 124 development events, attended by over 2,100 employees.
During the meeting, Maxim Tevs also conveyed employee requests to improve public transportation routes, particularly to extend the bus line through the Saransk industrial zone to reach JSC Ruzkhimmash and LLC VKM Steel, and to repair the road along the Aleksandrovskoye Highway. Artyom Zdunov promised to help resolve these issues.
Artyom Zdunov, Head of the Republic of Mordovia:
- RM Rail is a reliable partner of the Republic. The steady growth in production volumes and tax contributions from the holding’s enterprises significantly supports the development of Mordovia and helps improve the quality of life for our residents. I am especially pleased to see the company’s strong focus on employee programs, particularly those supporting families with children.
Maxim Tevs, CEO of RM Rail:
- Our goal is to diversify the business and strengthen RM Rail’s position in the most promising and dynamic market segments—whether that’s railcars, containers, petroleum products, or castings. We have everything we need to succeed: expert engineering, efficient production, and a competent team.
