Aluminum Alloy Tank Wagon on Innovative Bogie Gets Certified

Converting the most promising rolling stock to a new bogie is part of RM Rail's strategic development plan
RM Rail has received a conformity certificate from RS FGT for its model 15-1232-06 tank car designed to transport concentrated nitric acid, featuring an innovative 25 tf load capacity model 18-9891 bogie.

The tank rail car made of aluminum alloy demonstrates superior resistance to chemically aggressive environments comparable to pure aluminum, while offering more than double the strength at a significantly lower weight. Having received certification in November 2023, this model now stands out as one of the top performers in its class in terms of technical and operational specifications.

The 25 tf capacity cart of our in-house design received certification in March 2023. Its design speed reaches 120 km/h, with the side frame and bolster beam having a service life of 32 years. The maintenance-free interval before the first repair is 500,000 kilometers or 6 years. The key benefits include reduced stress on railway infrastructure, decreased wheel flange wear, and lower dynamic loads on side frames. In November of this year, the bogie successfully completed endurance testing at the VNIIZhT test ring, covering 1.2 million kilometers under expert supervision.

The transition to new bogies for the most promising rolling stock models is part of RM Rail's development strategy. Beyond its clear benefits for rolling stock owners and Russian Railways, the innovative 18-9891 bogie has already enabled the company to expand its product portfolio, particularly through the introduction of currently in-demand articulated wagons and several groundbreaking new models.
