RM Rail intends to develop vocational training system with Mordovia State University named after N. P. Ogarev

Ruzhkhimmash (part of RM Rail, a leading manufacturer of freight rolling stock in Russia) organized a meeting with the leadership of Mordovia State University named after N.P. Ogarev on its site. During the meeting, the parties discussed vocational training system modernization and students’ employment.

Ruzhimmash plant tour was arranged for the guests. They visited the Knowledge and Skills Factory, which was opened at the enterprise in 2021. The corporate institute of blue-collar occupations provides employees with  developmental learning in addition to vocational training. The training is given to newcomers as well as to specialists transferred between different product types or structural units. There are educational modules for managers, too. At this time, there are 14 areas of training; 3.3 thousand people have been trained. 30% time saving was achieved compared to conventional training format.

Close cooperation is maintained with Ruzaevsky Institute of Mechanical Engineering (part of Mordovia State University named after N.P. Ogarev). It is the main educational institution that provides the company with young professionals. Its graduates become participants in the New Thinking program and are engaged in projects at the intersection of science and production. The authors of successfully implemented ideas get the opportunity to find a job at the enterprise refilling talent pipeline of the plant.

The parties exchanged views on the development of career guidance for schoolchildren - from elementary grades to graduates. It was about attracting a wide range of specialists in the field of IT, economics, physics, chemistry, and marketing to industrial production. Another promising topic was on creation of the Department of Metallurgy. VKM-Steel, RM Rail foundry complex, is interested in this. Emergence of a specialized department could rise massive demand by applicants from Mordovia and adjacent regions.

- Today, when interacting with industrial partners, the university is changing from agreeing admission quotas and making plant tours to a new format. It is a joint detailed elaboration of a set of a graduate must-have competencies to enable his successful adaptation to the enterprise within the shortest possible time. Pre-dive into the corporate culture is of no small importance, since it primarily influences a young specialist’s motivation in his choice of future place of work.
