Authorized Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District got acquainted with RM Rail operations

Authorized Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, together with Interim Head of Mordovia Artem Zdunov visited RM Rail enterprises.

Managing Director of Ruzkhimmash Valery Larin told the visitors about production capabilities of the enterprise. “Today Ruzkhimmash is in the TOP-3 enterprises in Russia with 18.6% market share. Its product line includes over 80 models of rolling stock. Many of them are novel products in Russia and CIS and are distinguished by increased carrying capacity, longer service life, extended list of transported goods. The maximum output capacity of the enterprise is 12 thousand rail cars a year,” he noted.

It was emphasized that RM Rail strategic development program, covering Ruzkhimmash as its part, includes a project for construction of a cryogenic equipment plant. Already in 2022, they will start manufacturing tank containers for transportation of hydrogen and LNG on new dedicated lines.

It will be no problem getting human resources, President of RM Rail Holding Konstantin Danilov explained, - this spring the so-called Knowledge and Skills Factory was opened at the enterprise. This multidisciplinary training center provides employees with professional and developmental training; now there are 14 areas of training here - they are intended not only for the newcomers, but also for specialists transferred from one structural unit into another. Educational modules for managers are also available. The Knowledge and Skills Factory plans to train annually 1.5-2 thousand employees, saving 30% of the time compared to conventional training format.

Authorized Representative Igor Komarov and Interim Head of Mordovia Artem Zdunov talked with employees undergoing refresher training and their mentors. Foreman-instructor Lyubov Shalashova, for example, told how welders are trained – welder is a very demanded working profession at the plant: Ruzkhimmash total headcount is over 3200 people, of which 560 are welders. “Despite the fact that this is a man’s profession, there are many female welders working at the plant, they do their job perfectly, besides, this specialty is well paid,” she said.

Owing to implementation of this project - the Knowledge and Skills Factory - we have created, in fact, our own corporate institute of blue-collar occupations, which not only covers the company’s internal needs for subject matter experts, but also forms a talent pipeline for the entire machine building industry in Russia.

Interim Head of Mordovia Artem Zdunov emphasized that Ruzkhimmash training center is challenged to become a training site for other Mordovian enterprises, too.

The agenda of the Authorized Representative’s visit was continued with a tour of VKM-Steel, a leading metallurgical complex in Russia. The enterprise produces over 500 items of products from various grades of carbon and alloy steels, gray nodular cast iron, alloyed cast iron. The visitor was made familiar with products for the railway, automotive and oil and gas industries, agriculture, and informed about plans to diversify production and increase the casting production volumes.
