RM Rail and ASORPS to develop domestic refrigerator fleet manufacture
This interaction will make it possible to solve issues in an integrated manner, in cooperation with other market participants, promptly receiving feedback from shippers and owners of freight wagons and containers
RM Rail, Russia's leading manufacturer of freight rolling stock, and the Association of Food Sector Organizations (ASORPS), signed the Cooperation Agreement today, within the framework of the International Railway Salon Space 1520 — PRO//Movement.Expo. The document provides for the cooperation in the development of domestic refrigerator rolling stock.
Isothermal equipment is a new field for the Company. At the PRO//Movement.Expo exhibition, among its several new products, RM Rail presented an isothermal thermos wagon of model 16-1239 for transportation of perishable goods. In 2024, it is planned to present an autonomous refrigerator wagon with improved technical specifications. Currently, the work is underway to develop a prototype with a subsequent cycle of required testing and certification.
Sergey Drobzhev, First Deputy CEO of RM Rail:
"We see prospects in the segment of isothermal rolling stock and plan to increase our presence in this market. Also, the cooperation with leading companies is currently underway to create a prototype of a domestically made refrigeration and heating unit (RHU) to replace foreign counterparts. The interaction with ASORPS will make it possible to solve issues in a comprehensive manner, in cooperation with other market participants, and most importantly, to promptly receive feedback from shippers, freight carriers, and owners of freight wagons and containers in order to develop products that meet all customers expectations.
For its part, the Association of Food Sector Organizations (ASORPS) notes that it is always ready to accept into its membership new companies aimed at the development of domestic equipment, as well as the introduction of innovative technology to improve cargo transportation."
Mikhail Sinev, President of ASORPS:
"The development of manufacture of domestic isothermal wagons and containers, including refrigerator ones, is an important goal, which ASORPS considers one of its priorities. Signing this agreement is another step towards the independence from foreign suppliers. That is why we are particularly interested in the development of this industry and will do our best to achieve long-term goals in this field."
