RM Rail has certified tank car of increased load capacity for molten sulfur transportation

RM Rail has certified novel tank car for transportation of molten sulfur, axle load is 25 tonforce, produced by Ruzchimmash.

The certificate meets the Custom Union Technical Regulation requirements and is valid for five years.

The tank car is a novel product and features 72.5 tons load capacity which is maximum among counterparts. Improved thermal insulation keeps the cargo in the liquid state for up to ten days, even if the ambient temperature drops to -40 ° C. In the case of cooling, it is heated by electric heating elements with a total power of 90 kW.    

A specially designed protective collar under the loading hatch made of stainless steel excludes the ingress of sulfur under the thermal insulation casing and prevents its corrosion. In addition, this provides the car with fire safety.

The design uses a bogie produced by JSC Research and Production Corporation Uralvagonzavod with the axle load of 25 tons and 500,000 km distance run between repairs.
Tank car tare weight is 25.7 tons, barrel capacity is 44 m3, loading gauge as per GOST 9238-83 is 1-Т.

Testing and Engineering Centers rendered great support in the preparation and conduct of certification. And special thanks to our colleagues - Uralvagonzavod, who gave the unbiased assessment of the rail car and confirmed the possibility of using their bogies in the mass production of rolling stock.
