RM Rail became a partner of Startup Tour 2022 in Saransk

RM Rail, a leading freight rolling stock manufacturer in Russia, acted as the general partner of the Skolkovo Foundation event - Open Innovations Startup Tour 2022 in Saransk. The event was hosted by Technopark-Mordovia, the Skolkovo Foundation regional operator. The project is aimed at supporting technology entrepreneurship in the regions and involving them in Russian and global innovation ecosystem. Its main purpose is to search for promising solutions that are in demand in the hi-tech markets.

Open Innovations Startup Tour was scheduled to take place in 10 Russian cities. Saransk was the first of them. Participants submitted 112 works to the competition, 15 of them made it to the semi-finals. The projects deal with information technologies, industrial and energy technologies, biotechnologies in medicine and agriculture.

Representatives of RM Rail, together with other members of the jury, chose the winner. The experts recognized Mikhail Bubnov (FOTONTEKHSISTEM LLC) with the project “Hybrid conveyor-type grain dryer with forced convection based on infrared laser radiation” as the best. The finalist received a cash prize, as well as an invitation to Startup Village 2022 international conference, which will be held in Moscow on May 25-26.

Sponsorship of the Startup Tour is a continuation of cooperation between RM Rail and the Skolkovo Foundation. In February, the companies entered into a partnership agreement, which involves the creation of a research center. The center will deal with the development of freight rolling stock and large-tonnage containers, including the use of new materials and coatings. This also suggests equipment for oil and gas processing, for storage and transportation of utility products (LNG, hydrogen). In addition, with the support of the Skolkovo Foundation regional operator, RM Rail is implementing a capital investment project named “Designing Freight Rail Cars Using 3D Modeling, Texturing and Animation Software”. Furthermore, a machine building industry cluster started to be formed on the base of Technopark, where RM Rail Engineering will be the mainstay.

It is possible that RM Rail will create a mentoring institute, where we would give expert assessment of technologies, analyze the market, provide access to some software products, including 3D modeling.
